I stroll along an autumn road I stroll along an autumn roadI stroll along an autumn road by ~kybrdgal
Where friendship bloomed and dreams once flowed.
I dare not glance askance for fear
A glimpse of you would bring a tear.
I simply know I lost you when
You took that turn around the bend
And walked 'til I no longer could
See clearly through the tangled wood.
All hope then fled for warmer clime
All poetry shed its crimson rhyme
A harvest slain by sudden frost
This travesty of Love's Labour's Lost.
Our golden summer fast asleep
Lies buried 'neath a memory deep.
Grey ashes of a love bestowed
Now strewn along the autumn road.
