Oh, aging eyes, through all thy fears
Much thou hast learned and seen.
Thy keener vision sees that fields
Hath equal shades of green.

Oh, aging eyes, through all the jeers
Much thou hast learned and seen.
Thy wiser vision sees a world
Where all are kith and kin.

Oh, aging eyes, through all thy tears
Much thou hast learned and seen.
Thy clouded vision sees no face
Yet sees what lies within.

Oh, aging eyes, through all the years
Much thou hast learned and seen.
Thy fading vision sees His care
That thou may rest serene.
Aging Eyes
This came up just this morning while contemplating what it would be like to grow old with presbyopic eyes, sort of. Ha, ha... :)
I woke one balmy summer day,
  A few winks after dawn,
Got off the bed to stretch my legs,
  And stifled one big yawn.

My heart at once did skip a beat,
A chill went through my bones,
When I began to realize
  That I was not alone.

For bouncing off the concrete walls
  Was, much to my surprise,
A chirpy song both loud and clear,
  Belying the singer’s size.

A cricket! Oh, where can it be?
I knew I could not rest
Until I had evicted this
  Intruder from my nest.

I searched my humble one-room flat;
I searched it high and low:
Was it beneath my bathroom mat
Or on the top shelf? No.

Three quarters of an hour went by;
  My hopes began to fade.
My meager things lay strewn about
  Thanks to my futile raid.

Just when I was about to curse
  That song without a name,
My keen musician’s ear at last
  Discerned from where it came.

Thus underneath some dirty clothes
  All piled upon the floor,
I found the tiny culprit! Yes!
I had to search no more.

It stared at me with beady eyes
  And seemingly a smirk,
As if to say, “Now, wasn’t that fun?
But aren’t you late for work?”
Joel and the Cricket
A fictionalised version of a dear friend's experience with a cricket in his studio apartment one summer day a couple of years ago. :)  My first poem after a very very very long time!

I started on this soon after he told me the story but only came up with a measly two stanzas (the first and fifth). When I revisited it just yesterday, I had a few more ideas about how to plot it out and was happily able to complete it. Naturally I exaggerated a few facts but my friend is indeed a musician (founding member of a choir and conducted a few himself) and his soiled clothes weren't dumped on the floor. He's a very neat guy so he puts them into a hamper--which is where he found the cricket. ;)

I love music--classical mostly--and play the piano.
I like to read, I appreciate artwork/paintings and am interested in design and architecture.
But I'm no artist and I'm no poet either.
I just like to draw, experiment with Adobe Photoshop, take photographs of whatever catches my fancy and scribble down whatever nonsense gets into my head.
